Our Story
The owner of Huckleberry’s Hostel is a proud 2024 Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker. His journey began with his daughter, hiking the first 100 miles together, and he completed the remaining miles alongside his loyal dog, Wyatt. This life-changing adventure deepened Huckleberry’s passion for the outdoors, the hiker community, and the simple joy of finding refuge in nature.
Inspired by his experience, he relocated to Catawba, Virginia, nestled between two iconic Appalachian Trail landmarks—Dragon’s Tooth and McAfee Knob. Here, he opened Huckleberry’s Hostel to provide hikers with a welcoming space to rest, recharge, and share stories. Whether you’re a seasoned thru-hiker or just passing through, Huckleberry’s Hostel is a haven for all who embrace the trail.
